I got a new ‘Puter-com today, in the weirdest of places. Anyhow, here’s the deal. I wanted a Mini-ITX machine, they are very cool, but fairly expensive for the cost-power relation. When I was on my quest for the white whale LCD monitor wait, lets start again. It all starts with a woman named Marla Singer… Ok so that’s a different thing all together. Anyhow myself and a runner were tasked with getting a 19-21″ LCD Monitor with Composite video input. Now typically I would not think this is a big deal, but Welcome to Canada! Here we have two choices, buy the one we have or don’t buy the one we have. What a selection, it’s like Georgia, without all the shooting… OK so we were on a quest to get a monitor and I found this beauty on clearance, new in box at an office depot. It’s pretty hot, I paid $499Canadian, which is like $30USD ok so it’s really $415, but it’s still a good deal. Here’s the specs… 2.8GHz Celeron (400MHz Bus) 512 MB DDR400, 40GB Drive, 52×32x52×16x Combo Drive, Digital Optical I/O, USB2.0, Firewire (on the front and back), IR and Remote. It’s a pretty sweet machine, for the price and size. Now, you ask, what the hell did he buy that for. And to you all I say two words. Per Diem. With 3 catered meals and 14 hour workdays you don’t need a lot of it, but you get it anyway. Actually I do have plan for it, I’m going to make a mobile file server for my road peepz, so they can work more like the hard-core office people they are.
