we are so obvious
Americans that is. As I walk or ride on the streets, it’s come to me that it’s really easy to pick Americans out in the crowd. We’re the ones wearing a flag somewhere on us. We’re the ones walking around with our head making 180 degree sweeps near constantly, and at a 10 degree up angle, looking at the buildings. We’re also the ones asking every shopkeeper if they take US dollars, that one is obvious. We also have a tendency to to look left at the crosswalks, that can cause a problem I’m sure, as the cars are coming from the right. Another clue is that we’re the ones wearing something different from everyone else, or carrying a camera and backpack the size of Kansas. Being an American, I guess I have an advantage at finding my own, but I’ve got to think the locals can see us from a mile away. So next time you go out walking in your American flag shirt with your video and digital cameras, not watching where you are going, be careful, they can see you coming.
